Artist's Comments

I love Salvador Dali's paintings and I decided to re-make some of his paintings (that I like most) and here's one of them, which comes from a painting called "Christ", 1964. Which is under the "new acquisitions". You can take a look at it and other paintings as well over here: [link]
I think you'll guess where the title comes from... Original size of this image was 3000 x 4500 and you can take a close look at some details right here: [link]
I wanted to add some more details, but it kinda looked too nice for me, the way it is right now...

3D render by me and yes he's wearing the mask... Why? Well i'll leave that to you to decide :)

Textures from: [link]

P.S. I'm not comparing my artwork to Dali's artwork whatsoever... How can I?

That's awesome. Salvador Dali is amazing, and it's rare that someone would do it justice, but you did.

Thats pretty interesting. I'm not familiar with his works or how you might do graphics like that.. but that's pretty good and well-done. :)

That's a very peculiar image. The Christ-like is fairly obvious, even from the thumb, but why have you chosen to disintegrate the body as you have? It seems to be a technique you're fond of, but I was just wondering what the relevance is to this particular pic?

I think the most powerful aspect of this picture is how small the subject is in relation to the background - it conveys a real sense of insignificance, and I think this produces the image's highest impact.

Actually, the figure was not meant to be Christ... I just couldnt think of anything else, whould could it wear :)
And well.. With this picture I really wanted to tell many things :) But from the beginning I started with the idea that the soul is trying to free itself and the body is being torn and burnt for that. And I wanted the figure to say how pleased the soul is and how much pleasure it feels, while the body is being burnt... Well it's really hard to describe right now :) But after I started to manipulate the figure in Photoshop, there were so many ideas running through my head.. but anyway.. I hope you got an overall idea what I meant with the picture. And yeah.. Thnx for such a great comment.
